Self cleaning glass test

Ingredients of rubber profiles and gliding agents may have an influence on the surface properties of self cleaning glass. Self cleaning glass consists of a hydrophilic surface to achieve the self cleaning properties. Therefore substances, which hydrophobizes the glass surface, have to be avoided.

In this test the rubber profile is mounted on the surface of the self cleaning glass and exposed outside for several weeks. Every week the surface is wetted by water and the area of the glass, which has been hydrophobized due to the contact to the rubber profile, is measured.
